I had no idea that birds are so hilarious, you guys... they are so much fun to watch. :)

It's time for Learn Something New Tuesday!

 


If you had $1000 to spend right now on a single thing, what would it be?
This is hard... everything I can think of falls short of $1000 or way beyond $1000. I'm going to say home renovations, if it counts as one thing. Like the changes we want to make to the master bath, or enclosing the back porch as another room. I haven't priced either of those yet though so I could be way off my $1000 mark.

Which one of your pets is your favorite?
No way could I pick a favorite! They are all special to me in their own ways. Sneakers (the cat) is cuddly, but the birds, Loki (the bearded dragon) and Genbu (the tortoise) are all so fun to watch and interact with.

Did you ever own a waterbed?
Nope. I remember desperately wanting one as a kid but I have no idea why now.

What is your favorite color gummy bear?
Clear.

Do you have any favorite shows that are coming back on soon?
Doctor Who and Glee will both be on again soon!

Do you have any great bloggy friends?
I have some, I have met some really great people online and through my Hearing Sparks blog.

Two Little Birds

This weekend we added two new little individuals to our growing herd of pets. We now have two little finches in addition to our cat, bearded dragon, and leopard tortoise.

Scotty had been wanting finches for awhile - his grandfather kept them and he thought it would be nice. My only experience with birds was with the cockatiels we had growing up, so I had to do some research and find out what finches need before we committed to two little guys (or girls. Who knows?).



We picked out a society finch, and I named her Mochi. The other is a spice finch named Inari. They have a nice, cozy little spot in our dining room, and they've already cost us some money in terms of buying new pans to avoid the hazardous nonstick coating. (You see, we went to Target to buy the pans, which was very dangerous. I blame them completely for the amount that popped up at the register.)



They are super fun little guys - very active. Mochi is much more relaxed and laid back than Inari, but they are both enjoying exploring their cage and eating way more than their body weight in hay, finch food and mustard greens.



I expect to have them around for a long time to come!

1.) Are you looking forward to fall?
Yes yes yes! I am so excited for fall! Cooler weather and more chances to go outside... plus holidays!

2.) What is your favorite fall activity?
Thanksgiving! And like Jennifer said, zoo visits!

3. What is one TV show it seems like everyone watches but you never have?
Most reality shows.

4. If you had a small farm, what is the first farm animal you’d buy?
A cow. A miniature cow. Trust me, I have plans...

5. What’s the most pain you have ever been in?
I have been pretty lucky not to have had a lot of pain in my life. I would go with when I first got my new hearing aids with a different style of earmold. The earmolds hurt my ear a lot and cut it up inside. It was a very unique kind of pain... sort of inside your head but not...

6. What is you favorite thing to do on the weekends?
Lately... just relax :)

1.Christmas is a little over four months away! Do you think the year 2011 went by too quickly?????
No, actually it hasn't been going by too fast at all. In fact summer feels like it has dragged on and on... I am ready for some cooler weather!

2.Schools are starting back up! What was your favorite subject?
I always loved English and History. Even if the class was not interesting that day, I could read ahead in the textbook. History was always especially easy for me unless I needed to remember a date!

3.Would you ever consider plastic surgery?
Nah. Unless it was needed for a medical reason or I had some type of disfiguring accident. I wouldn't change myself as I am now. 

4.How many months is it until your birthday?
Ten! :(

5.Do you know exactly what you want to do with your life?
No, not really. I know a few things... but I definitely don't have a specific plan.

6.Would you be willing to be examined for medical research?
It depends on the type of examination.

1. What is one thing you would do to decrease the national debt?
I'm not an economist... so I'm not going to pretend I have a magic answer. I do think a lot of inefficiencies could probably be corrected in each department that would eventually help the government save money. That's just from my observation of local/state government.

2. An XBOX player was just killed by a blood clot, because he was addicted to his XBOX and sat in the same position playing for too many hours.. Do you think people spend too much time playing video games?
I think that, like anything, video games can become too much of an addiction for some people. The same way alcohol, drugs, television, movies, and some other activities can be taken to extremes. Moderation is key no matter what you are doing.

3. What is the most random CD you own?
I just went and looked at my CD collection and didn't see anything super random... I don't buy CDs often so I guess I don't end up with random stuff.


4. Do you own a little black dress?
Nope.

5. Did you ever fail your learners/drivers test?
Yes - crushed some cones while attempting to parallel park.

6. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
Just to go out on a normal day, maybe 10 minutes or less. I'm quick. For work, a little longer because I am picky about what is comfortable so I have to pick out a comfy shirt/pants. But after that, it's quick.

EXTRA QUESTION:
Larry Flynt has said he has offered Casey Anthony 500k to pose nude for his magazine, Hustler Magazine. If you were offered 500k to pose for Hustler what would be your response?
Hahaha. I honestly have no idea what I would say. I'd probably turn it down though. I am super curious to see how I'd end up Photoshopped though!
