Yesterday

Yesterday, we celebrated three things: Valentine's Day, Arizona's Centennial and my husband's 27th birthday.

It was a good day.

He got a pocket watch from me. (Plus a video game and chocolate.)



He got me a CD of Les Miserables, the 25th anniversary performance, live.

We listened to it while we drove to Wildlife World Zoo in Litchfield Park and passed the Centennial highway signs on the way.

We said hello to all of the animals at the zoo. One parrot even said hello back. (But not this gecko, although he was very friendly too.)



We had lunch in Litchfield Park at a Mexican restaurant Yelp steered me to, and Yelp has never steered me wrong.

Then Scotty's mom visited and gave us more chocolate (score), and we had friends over. We beat each other up in Soul Calibur V.

And then sushi thanks to our wonderful friend Dan. And it was all delicious.

And then bed, because it was a long day.

But a great one.

A Spooky Trip to the Phoenix Zoo

On Halloween, Scotty and I both happened to have the day off. We took a trip to the Phoenix Zoo. I thought I'd share some pictures from our visit.

I love all zoos that are focused on sustaining wildlife and preserving the lives of animals around the world. The Phoenix Zoo is currently undergoing some renovations and there's construction around, but it was a really fun visit nonetheless. I was particularly excited to see the komodo dragon babies they have visiting from San Diego Zoo!

1.) Are you looking forward to fall?
Yes yes yes! I am so excited for fall! Cooler weather and more chances to go outside... plus holidays!

2.) What is your favorite fall activity?
Thanksgiving! And like Jennifer said, zoo visits!

3. What is one TV show it seems like everyone watches but you never have?
Most reality shows.

4. If you had a small farm, what is the first farm animal you’d buy?
A cow. A miniature cow. Trust me, I have plans...

5. What’s the most pain you have ever been in?
I have been pretty lucky not to have had a lot of pain in my life. I would go with when I first got my new hearing aids with a different style of earmold. The earmolds hurt my ear a lot and cut it up inside. It was a very unique kind of pain... sort of inside your head but not...

6. What is you favorite thing to do on the weekends?
Lately... just relax :)

DePhoMo 21 - At work we had a "Decorate a Stocking" contest and I came in 2nd place with my drawing of a cow. (I'll have to take a picture of it.) I won this musical rocking horse! Sorry about the busy background; I wanted a picture after I had unwrapped it at work.

At the Wildlife World Zoo

We went to the Wildlife World Zoo on Friday. It's a combination zoo and aquarium with a really cool restaurant inside the zoo. It was a really fun day.



It was FOGGY!

This peacock has the right idea... don't wait for them to feed you, go to the food!


A gibbon. There was a baby in their enclosure, and he was so cute!


He was sleeping... but doesn't he look happy?


I loved this monitor lizard. He was so cute and friendly.




I also loved this crocodile. He looks like a Disney character to me with his big eyes and snaggly teeth.


Galapagos tortoise. We arrived early in the morning when they were feeding the animals, so they were either eating or waiting excitedly for food.
